3 December, Friday; Kibale, Uganda.
Lucky for me, today was an easy travel day. I wasn’t feeling well the night before and welcomed an easy day.
Driving along the road can sometimes be boring and sometimes quite interesting. Driving across the sometimes treacherous roads of Kenya and Uganda means seeing a fair share of overturned trucks. Interesting shop names and colorful markets also dot the roadside.

The Market
We made a quick stop in a market at Fort Portal. It’s such a different world and nothing like a visit to your local Safeway. All of the sudden, I felt a poke on my backside and had a brief moment of panic, but quickly remembered I had no money on me, so I wasn’t terribly alarmed. I turned around to see a 3-year-old girl in slightly trodden clothes smiling at me. I kneeled down to introduce myself and was soon encircled by 3 kids who didn’t speak English, so I entertained them for a moment with handshakes, high fives and low fives. The youngsters here are adorable and so friendly. Well, except for the pre-teen boy who gave me the finger today from the roadside!

A few hours later we crossed the Equator and stopped to take some photos. Ben quickly pointed out that, according to his GPS, we weren’t really at the equator, but about 200 feet away. Not surprisingly, no one really cared. It’s all about the photo opp.
Who’d have thought that we’d spend our honeymoon on different hemispheres
