Birthday Gifts from United Airways

So it's my Birthday and Lisa and I are trying to maximise our vacation\holiday time by getting home on Sunday, in time for work on Monday. Travelling on my Birthday isn't my idea of fun but if it means one more day of diving or snowboarding then I'm happy!
The good news was Lisa booked dinner with Daniel & Ellie at Zuni Cafe, one of my favorite restaurants. So we had something to look forward to.
As was expected, the flights were full and they started offering free flights to anyone who could take a later flight. We jumped at the chance and got routed via Chicago. Happily re-arranging dinner for a free flight anywhere in the US.
We get to Chicago, and predictably the next flight is full. So we think about it a little and decide to put our names on the volunteer list again. It's 3pm and it's plenty of time to find a hotel, enjoy a nice meal and get the early morning flight.
As we're going through the options with the Service Rep it all starts going a little weird. Apparently our tickets aren't valid on the flight, so with no explanation or compensation she bumps us off the flight on to the next one. Plus we're in two middle seats miles away from each other and at the very back of the plane.
We're not particularly happy about this so we decide to queue in the Customer Service line and moan about this because we have some time to spare. We didn't really expect anything but we at least hoped for an explanation.
Little did we think that the Service Rep would give us another pair of free flights, and an upgrade to Business.
So we're now sitting in United's new business seats, which are awesome! Babylon A.D. is turning out to be a great movie. Our only hurdle left is getting off the ground, as we've been on board for an hour and a half and we haven't moved anywhere! (Quite literal, as I’m publishing this whilst sitting in seat 7D!)
I guess we can't complain, we now have 4 return tickets, which are worth at least $2000 if we play our cards right!
A nice Happy Birthday from United!
PS Travelling with our new Netbook is excellent! Thoroughly worth the $450!
