The Bing Photo of the Day!

Today is a very cool day. There are not many perks to working at Microsoft nowadays but the occasional internal competition is cool. Many months ago I submitted my Sea Nettle Jelly photo for the the Bing Photo of the day contest. Well today it’s been put up for the world to see! According to a Cnet article today there will be 61 million searches on Bing US today. I have no idea how many people that is globally but that’s one hell of a lot of people that are seeing my photo today! Early yesterday morning it showed up on Bing Australia, then the UK that afternoon and now at the stroke of midnight it hits the United States.

According to this website it’s been shown in 47 countries around the globe: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Ireland, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, United States, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Latin America, Estonia, Finland, Switzerland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Taiwan. As usual Bing highlights a few related searches, here’s what they picked for my photo:

On a slightly related note, the charity book we did last year won an award earlier this week. The United Way of King County Innovation Award. You can see the very same photo top left on the cover.
