Too lazy to visit the Farmer’s Market?

Our First Farm Fresh To You Delivery

Saturday morning. We should be getting up early to walk or bike over to the Ferry Building to shop for yummy, fresh produce. Yeah right – we’re single and kidless, so we’re sleeping in. The lazy way of getting produce from local farms – be a yuppie and get organic produce delivered straight to your door.
We got our first box dropped of this week. I felt a bit like a kid as we were opening the box and discovering all the items packed inside. I kind of felt like a kid at Christmas – except it was over vegetables, not toys.
We’d been thinking of joining a farm co-op where you pick up your share of produce each week, but couldn’t find something that was convenient with our commuting schedule. Then at the Maker Faire we ran into a rep from
Farm Fresh To You
. They deliver local organic produce right to your door. The flexibility is great. Cancel at any time, choose your quantity and frequency of deliveries. Don’t like carrots – let them know and they’ll replace them with something else. Or cancel for the week you’re on vacation.
Our first box contained heirloom tomatoes (Ben’s favourite [btw, I cringe when I put the “u” in there, but Ben would have sneakily added it anyways!]), baby Bok Choy, broccoli, green melon, blueberries, lipstick pepper (huh? Looks like red pepper to me), red leaf lettuce, basil, yellow & red onions. So far everything’s been really tasty. It will be interesting to be challenged to try new things. Next week we’re getting chard….hmmm, I’ll have to read up on recipes.
