Turning the Silverlight on Tassography.com

I’m always up for learning something new and when it comes to development the best way for me is to add a new feature on tassography.com. That’s why the site is packed full of features, half of which I’m sure only I know about! Silverlight has been usable for about 18 months now and it was time I finally played around with it. Over Christmas I pulled together two simple applications that I think are pretty cool.
Advanced Photo Viewer using Windows Live Photo Gallery’s People Tags
In my last couple of postings I’ve talked about how Windows Live Photo Gallery allows you to tag People in Photos and how you can read them using C#. I’ve now taken that capability and written a simple Silverlight app that duplicates the experience I get when viewing photos in WLPG. Now on
tassography.com
when you put your mouse over a person in the photo their name will pop up. And if you click on that person it’ll take you to all the photos I have of that person. Here’s how my experience compares to the WLPG experience:
My New Photo Viewer
WLPG Photo Viewer
I have tagged about 3500 photos with about 80 different people to view online, click here to see:

Dive Profile Viewer
I’ve had a dive computer on every one of my 80 odd dives, and apart from keeping me safe whilst I’m diving, I don’t really do much with the data. Until now that is. I found a nifty little tool called
SuuntoXML
that exports the data in XML. With some Silverlight magic I’ve now been able to visualise them for all to see online:
You can check out all my dives here:

Well that’s it for now, I have some cool ideas of where to take these two apps so stay tuned for more.
