Twickenham Stadium - Our Wedding Gift from Marriott

Having stayed at a Heathrow hotel once before, I vowed never to do it again. Simply put, they are cattle markets, and way over priced. So when I realised we needed a hotel before our return flight to San Francisco, I knew I needed an alternative, especially as it would be our first night alone as a married couple. A quick search revealed the
Twickenham Marriott
, about 10 minutes from Heathrow.
When we checked in, I of course tried to get us an upgrade. Armed with my
Marriot Gold Card
, and our shinny new wedding rings, I thought we had a good chance. To say Marriott exceeded our expectations is mild understatement.
It turns out that there are 5 suites in the hotel that overlook the pitch at the home of English Rugby, the famous
Twickenham Stadium
. We got upgraded to a suite that costs £8,000\$12,000 a night on a match day! Unfortunately there was no game, but it was still amazing to sit in the completely empty stadium and eat leftovers from my parents’ afternoon tea.
I grabbed a few photos, including an amusing one of my new wife sitting in the deserted stadium in her dressing gown (robe).
