The government of Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has made significant strides in the field of fishing and aquaculture, recognizing the importance of modern technology in ensuring the safety and prosperity of fisherfolk.
With the aim of promoting fishermen’s safety and enhancing the effectiveness of fishing regulations, the state government has launched a pilot project by the Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Federation, which involves the deployment of modern technology, including drones, GPS, and CCTV, in major reservoirs.
The Deployment of Modern Command Control Room
As part of the pilot project, a modern Command Control Room is being set up at Indira Sagar, one of the largest reservoirs in the country, equipped with drones, GPS, and CCTV systems. This state-of-the-art facility will enable the government to monitor fisher safety and fish seed conservation in real-time, ensuring rapid response and assistance to fishers in emergencies.
- The Command Control Room will also monitor fish breeding grounds and regulate fishing activity more efficiently, thanks to the advanced surveillance capabilities provided by the CCTV system.
- The GPS system will enable the government to track the location of fishing boats in real-time, ensuring that aid can be provided immediately during emergencies.
Ensuring Fishermen’s Safety through Innovative Solutions
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that ensuring the safety and prosperity of fisherfolk is a top priority for the state government, and measures are being taken to improve their living conditions. The government has planned to construct at least five ‘transit houses’ on the islands of Gandhi Sagar and Indira Sagar, along with two ‘floating platforms’ in the middle of the reservoirs, to ensure the safety of fishers.
- These facilities will provide emergency cooking areas, solar mobile charging stations, and bio-toilets for fisherfolk, thereby improving their safety and living conditions.
- The government is also working on establishing advanced technologies for monitoring water quality and implementing efficient fishing regulations.
The Advancements in Fishing and Aquaculture
The integration of modern technology is driving new advancements in fishing and aquaculture across the state.
